Peyton's 10 Months Old!

Holy cow, we're into the double-digits! It's been a big month for our little curly top. Besides getting better at cruising around and more daring with letting go and standing on her own,...(wait for it!)...Peyton is crawling on her HANDS AND KNEES! Can you believe it? I never thought I would see the day. Just in the past week it has been like night and day. She just loves being able to go see where her daddy went when he leaves a room.

She gets to eat most of the food now that daycare provides, which is nice because that is one of the few things that is included in tuition! I was told Friday that she has two more boyfriends. She was chasing two of the older boys around and belly-laughing at them.

She's turned into such a good sleeper these past few months - naps 2-3 times a day and sleeps from around 7 until 6:30, rarely waking up. She loves pretty much everything that we have given her to eat and always wants to feed herself instead of using the spoon. Mealtimes are becoming very messy!

Peyton has also added two new sounds to her vocab - ga and da. Greg is trying like crazy to get her to call him Da Da. So far, we've just gotten da da da da da.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Although we didn't go downtown for the festivities, we still had a great time Saturday. We started the day at our nephew, Gannon's, 3rd b-day, which included a tour of the Clayton Fire Station - way cool! Saturday night we went to trivia night at Good Shepherd, which turned out to be a great time. We then danced the night away at Trainwreck.

Daddy's Girl

During my maternity leave Greg used to get upset because Peyton seemed to like me better. At least, I was better at calming her during her daily screaming fits. Lately, she definitely prefers Greg. I'm at home with her for at least a half hour at night before Greg gets home from work. We have a great time playing but as soon as he walks in the door she starts squirming and eventually crying for her daddy to come get her. Generally, if I'm holding her and he is close by, she wants to go to him.
He says she has been screaming the past few mornings when he leaves her at daycare. She's also started to get apprehensive with strangers - even family that she doesn't see often. When does this phase end? I am a very lucky girl, though, that Peyton has such a wonderful daddy who is willing to play with her all night long! And she still likes me to put her to bed. :-)

Slowly but surely

Just when I thought she was going to scootch around the house on her bottom, Peyton now is back to the army crawl. She even gets up on her hands and knees every once in a while. I think she just might get the hang of this crawling thing. She just wanted us to know that she's going to do things when she wants to!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I just love these pics of Peyton so I had to post them. We had a great day today, especially me! I got to "sleep in" (I remember when getting up at 7:30 was early, not sleeping in!). I awoke to flowers and the chocolates. We made pancakes, which Peyton loved. It's fun being able to all eat together.

Grandma Judy came over and gave Peyton a teddy bear that shakes and sings "Wild Thing". We were going to go see Sampson compete in the dock dog competition at the boat show but Peyton didn't get up from her nap in time. So, we ended up going to Chesterfield Mall and I got a whole new outfit with my gift cards at the Gap. I haven't shopped for quite some time, so it was fun. Peyton was in awe of all of the people at the mall. We really need to get her out more! Now Greg's out picking up some dinner for us. It's been a great day!

We went from a scooter to a scootcher

Peyton had actually started to get pretty good at the army crawl in the past couple of weeks. Well, that was until she started getting good at sitting up from a lying-down position. So, when we put her on her belly now and want her to crawl to something, most of the time she now sits up and scootches (that's the only way I can describe it) to get to where she wants to be. She sits on her butt and moves one leg forward and then the other. Oh well. It reminds me of when she was still in her basinett and we called her scooter because she always ended up at the very end of it with her feet up, even in her swaddler. Here's a video of her sort of doing it. (I haven't gotten a good action shot yet.) She also just got done eating a biter biscuit, which explains why she has goop all over her.

Going out to eat

Saturday we took Peyton to Houlihan's. This was her first restaurant outing since she has been out of the pumpkin seat. We ordered off the kid's menu (geez - $5 for what turned out to be Kraft macaroni & cheese and applesauce). She did really well. It was funny seeing her take in her surroundings (she was fascinated with the waitress and the ceiling - that's what she's looking at in the picture). She's very curious. Of course I had to take pictures.
