Christmas Eve we went to Aunt Marsha's for the first time as a family. Normally we spend Thanksgiving with this side of the fam and Christmas Eve with my fam, but this year we switched it up. It was so much fun getting to play rob your neighbor with this bunch and Aunt Marsha made a fabulous dinner. We found out that Greg's cousin, Elizabeth, is pregnant with her first and due a few weeks after us! We also got to "hang out" with his cousin, Lauren, who moved to Australia this past Fall. They have video on their computers so she could watch and comment on what was going on back in the STL.
We got home after 11:30pm, put Peyton to bed and went downstairs until about 1:30 putting together her big present!

Thies Christmas

Greg's parents came over the Sunday before Christmas to give her her presents. She made out like a bandit, getting a battery-operated four-wheeler, cell phone, Elmo doll among other things. Greg said "Wow" after the first present was opened, so every present after that P said the same thing. It was so much fun watching her have so much fun! She is definitely spoiled by her grandparents!

Thies-Niehaus Christmas 2009

Christmas started off with a bang as it always does at Jean & Terry's. They had a little table set up that all of the kids sat at together to eat dinner - it was so cute! Peyton had so much fun with her 8 cousins. Next year there will be 12 kids, what are we going to do?!? We're going to be close to getting outnumbered. :-) Peyton enjoyed the opening of the presents much more this year - last year she was more into the paper.

Could it be...a girl and a boy?

We had an extra ultrasound when I was about 13 1/2 weeks at St. Johns. It was pretty cool and they put the pix on a CD. I have been pretty anxious about this pregnancy but feel much better after that u/s. The doc could see I was somewhat worried and reassured me by saying that I was as good as it gets as far as a candidate to have twins - things like my height and the fact that they are "di-di" twins are helping. Anyway, the u/s tech asked if we wanted to find out the sex and I said that we hoped to. Without hesitation, she then proceeded to say, "this one is a boy". I couldn't believe it! I was not prepared to hear that and was grateful Greg decided to come at the last minute. Me and my SIL Steph were very excited and Greg just grinned and said "as long as they're healthy". She was not sure about the other but thinks it may be a girl! So, we're not buying boy clothes just yet but are very happy that we may add a little boy to the mix. If they end up both being girls, we'll at least have plenty of clothes for the first year as P has smaller clothes with the tags still on them!

O Christmas Tree
helping decorate
what is this? Should I throw it?

First family trip to the tree farm
little blue eyesWe took Peyton to get a tree this year and her Uncle Bob & Aunt Steph (and cousin Louie!) came along. It was the first year in a while that it wasn't blistering cold. For some reason we decided to go up the steepest hill, don't ask me why. Probably not the best idea for a 36 week pregnant woman! She made it, though, and we all got beautiful trees! We are now on day two with the ornaments still in tact. Peyton just points to them and says "ball". The adults decided after trying to tote the wagon up the hill that we probably wouldn't be bringing the kids for another five or six years! Especially since just the Thies crew won't even fit in one wagon!
Trip to See Santa

Silly us decided to take Peyton, the child who is slow to warm up to people now, to see Santa. I thought we'd be smart and go before Thanksgiving. Even though I checked the website before going and it made no mention of it, of course he was on break so we had to wait 45 minutes anyway. So, I stood in line and Greg took Peyton around Bass Pro Shop. They really did have a lot of cute stuff for her to do and see. So, that was the highlight of our trip. Santa finally got off break and we went up to see him. She was fine until Greg tried to put her in his lap. I've never seen her cling on so tight! She wouldn't even let him crouch down so I could get a pic. Oh well, it is really about her and not me getting a picture anyway, right? So, we decided not to torture her further by throwing her in his lap and made our way home. Maybe next year?!?
p.s. yes, Greg was in shorts.

12 Weeks and Counting
Yes, we're adding two more to this Thies household! Greg and I are blessed to be expecting twins in June 2010. Lots of changes to look forward to, hopefully our princess will be ready for them! Here are the 10 week ultrasound pics. Baby B is on top and A is on bottom. At my 12 week appointment I had to get another quick u/s since they could only hear one heartbeat. Turns out one is a mover and a shaker and the other just lays low!
