11 Months and Counting!

Peyton is 11 months old today! Man, is time flying by. She's cruising all over the place, still very hesitant to take steps without holding on to at least one hand. She still loves her activity table and grocery cart. She bounces up and down and smiles when the music plays. And like a normal kid her age, she loves to bang on anything she can get her hands on. She also thinks it's hilarious to share her sippy cup or paci with us.
She gets more and more hair every day. We can now put it in ponytail on top of her head and it's getting wavy. My mom found a picture of herself when she was about Peyton's age and it's the closest she's looked to any of our baby pictures, which is funny since everyone says she looks just like Greg. I think my mom's blond curly hair in the picture and blue eyes have a little to do with it. She definitely has a little bit of everyone in her.
Peyton is such a good eater (I know, you couldn't tell) and loves her grilled chicken and veggies. She has 8 teeth now and is looking forward to getting to eat steak. :-) We've been working on getting her to drink her formula out of the sippy cup, which she had no interest in. Today Miss Nicki said that they gave her formula with her meals and she drank it from the sippy cup. She thinks Peyton wanted to be like all the other "big" kids. Her morning and evening bottles are going to be hard to break, though. At least we've gotten the paci rule down - it stays in the crib! Hey, baby steps.

I love Cheez-Its!

Greg & I usually munch on Cheez-Its when we get home to tide us over (we usually eat dinner after P goes to bed). She never really paid attention but we made the mistake of letting Peyton try one. Peyton now recognizes the sound of the box coming out of the pantry and opening up and just has to share them with us.

Mmmm, leafy!

Since it's finally light outside when we get home during the week, I've been trying to get Peyton outside as much as possible. During the fall we used to sit in the grass and she would crunch the leaves in her hands. Well, she still loves to do that, except now they also go straight in the mouth, along with the grass or anything else in the ground. It reminds me of when Dakota was about her age and she loved to try to eat our landscaping rocks.
They've been taking the kiddos outside at daycare, too, and I've been told that she tries to eat the grass and leaves there, too. We figure that she can't get too much green leafy things in her diet so we're probably ok.
p.s. I just realized if Greg saw this pic posted he'd probably kill me, since he's soo embarrassed we have brown patches of grass in our yard.

Fun at the Park

We stopped by the park on Saturday for the first time with Peyton. It was a little chilly but she loved going down the slide with Daddy and swinging. I had to post a pic of me with Peyton to prove to her one day that I was around (since I'm usually behind the camera)!

Give me four steps, give me four steps mister...

Okay, so that's not exactly how the song goes, but Greg told me this morning that Peyton took four steps on her own last night! Of course it was on the night of my monthly girl's night out. I did get to see her take two steps Saturday. I'm not sure I'm ready for this! Here's some pix of our cutie patootie crawling (which still excites me!) and standing on her own.

Happy 85th Birthday, Nan!

We celebrated my grandma's birthday Saturday at Josephine's in Godfrey. Steph made her the cutest hat and got her a boa. Nan also had on a blinking ring and "Queen" pin that she got at her therapy group. She loves the bling!
