Our first weekend away with Peyton

We went with the Niehaus side to Blue Springs Ranch in Bourbon, MO for the weekend. We made S'Mores (yum!) and Peyton got to try her first bite of marshmallow which, suprisingly she did not like. What kid doesn't like marshmallows? We had fun by the river and looking at the horses. I think her favorite part was riding in the front seat of the truck. We were several cabins away from some family so we drove (very slowly!) back and forth to visit and let her ride up front. She got quite adventurous, watching all of her big cousins, and came away with two big bruises on her forehead. Aside from that, it was a nice weekend away!

Movin' on up

Peyton has officially transitioned to the toddler room at school and is a Giggling Giraffe! She slept on a cot today for the first time. They said it took a bit of coaxing but she slept for two hours. I got to drop her off today and meet her teachers - both very nice. They seem to have a lot of great activities to keep her engaged, completely the opposite of the infant room. Peyton showed me her chair today (they have a chair with the kid's pic on it) and she sat in it and ate her cereal with milk in the bowl with a spoon like a big girl! She was so happy. The room is much bigger and has much cooler toys, along with a door out to their very own playground. Plus, she's back with her BFF again (who is a month older and therefore transitioned a little while ago). It's much easier to leave her there knowing she's going to have fun and not be bored all day.

PAT came tonight and was very impressed (of course, why wouldn't she be ;-)) She said her vocab is almost that of a two-year old. Her clothes are 24 months so that makes sense - hah! We are very proud. I think it helps that P's favorite nightime activity is reading books. P loved playing in the box full of dry noodles, so I guess we'll be buying a bunch next trip to the store!

Splashing in the Rain

Yesterday was such a blah day and Peyton was getting quite bored inside. I had been talking to my MIL on the phone, who asked, "Why can't you go outside?" Good point, a little water never hurt anyone! So, we donned our windbreakers and splashed in the puddles.

Flock of Seagulls

After taking her ponytail out of her hair, Peyton's hair stays standing straight up for a while. She wasn't in the mood to stand still but here's a few attempts at pictures.
