Bob and Steph invited us to stay with them at a condo on the Hawaiian Island at the Lake. Some of their neighbors and family were down as well with their little ones. Greg was going to be down there anyway and since Steph promised to help me, we decided to go. I'm so happy we did. It was a bit odd seeing the island for the first time (I hadn't been down since my 30th birthday). It went from being covered in trees to being covered in concrete. Greg ended up spending several hours Saturday with us and came to stay with us Sunday afternoon till Monday. The place was very nice and right next to the pool, which was perfect for kids. Half of it was only about a foot deep and had big waterfall things. Peyton didn't mind wearing her life jacket so I didn't have to worry as much about her and she had a blast. The first day we were there an 8 year old named Marley met us and played with Peyton most of the weekend, pulling her around in intertubes and the like. We brought a pack and play down to the pool so the one-year-olds could hang out somewhere safe if we had one of the other kids in the pool. It worked out pretty well. Ashlyn and Braden weren't crazy about the pool in the shallow end but once we brought them to the deep end the LOVED it. Peyton and Louis got to stay up for the fireworks. We sat down at the other end of the island to watch them and were having a great time until about 5 minutes after they started. Then, it started raining. So, we watched the rest from our balcony. The kids all had a great time playing together. It was a great weekend and I was grateful to finally share the Lake with my children. I was lucky enough to have been able to spend a great part of my life there and it holds some of my fondest childhood memories.
