Becoming Beautiful

Okay, so she doesn't need anything to become beautiful but she tries. I keep lotion and my nighttime moisturizer in my nightstand and Peyton watches me put it on and occasionally wants to put some on herself too. She thinks she's so special when she gets to do it. I had made the mistake of leaving some Vaseline out one day and Greg had let her sit on the bed while was in there after he got home from work. He was in and out doing things and I went in to get her for dinner. She had the Vaseline in her lap with both hands completely in the jar, which was almost full! Her whole face and also upper arms/shoulders were COVERED with Vaseline. She had the biggest smile on her face and I saw her put it on her face just like I do my moisturizer. Good Lord. I wasn't sure what to do so I just picked her up while her hands were in the container brought both of them in the bathroom. It probably wasn't the best thing to do as a parent but I had to run and get the camera. The picture doesn't do it justice though as far as seeing how much was on her. I managed to wipe most of it off to get her through dinner. Even after her bath we could still kind of feel it on her. She was super soft for a while!

All my babies playing together

Peyton loves to get in the gym with Ashlyn and Braden. The green pacifiers are the babies and yes, Peyton steals them all the time as you can see. She knows that hers goes on the top shelf of her dresser when she's not in bed but when she needs a fix she'll grab A or B's!

Dora Face

Peyton is obsessed with Dora and would probably watch it 24/7 if we let her, with a few Mickey Mouse Clubhouses in between. I remember it was not so long ago that she wouldn't pay attention to the TV for more than 2 minutes...what happened? We were playing and she started squishing her face and said that it was her "Dora Face". I later saw that on an episode they were making silly faces and Dora did squish her face. Peyton has a great memory!

Brady's Buddies

Peyton loves her baby dolls and, I'm assuming since she sees us put her brother and sister in them all the time, she likes to put her babies in the Boppy's. This night she decided her brother needed some company. (I've been testing out calling him Brady since that was initially going to be his formal name!)

Bed time

Every night we read books to Peyton in bed. A few of her current favorite are Johnny Tractor and the Big Surprise and The Going to Bed Book. Tonight Nana Judy was over and read to her. Ashlyn decided to join them.

My family

Trying to get all four of them in one pick is hard work. We still don't have one with the five of us (I don't think, anyway!). Here's my precious family which I am happy to say is now complete.

Girls' Day Out

My mom and I took Peyton to the Magic House, which is always a good time. We like to be able to do stuff with her without the babies once in a while. Afterwards we went to Dewey's Pizza, about which I have heard great things but have never been. It was soo good. Peyton was so tired on the way home she just had a blank stare.

Peytonisms

We got home from school today and were going through our normal routine of washing hands, etc. and Peyton was playing with the water coming out of the faucet. I asked, "are you silly'? She replied with a straight face, "No, I'm Peyton Thies".

Two Months Old!!!

Ashlyn and Braden turned 2 months old yesterday and my, how they've changed! They've doubled their weight, have better control over their heads and are staying awake longer during the day. They also have gone from 8 to 7 feedings a day, eating 3-4 hours during the day, 3.5-4.5 hours overnight and have thrown in a few 5 hour stretches during the night in the past week.
Braden has a hernia in his belly button, but the doctor is sure it will go away on its own. He looks like he has a little balloon coming out of his belly. He also has cradle cap around his eyebrows. He's still taking Pepcid for his reflux but we have cut down the Mylanta to maybe once a day. They are both on track developmental-wise for their age but we are keeping an eye on B's tracking since he is only doing it one direction. But, the doc is very happy with them both.
Ashlyn has really filled out and now that she has cheeks and a double-chin, she really looks like Peyton. Braden is still a little version of Greg, in my eyes anyway. Strangers will say that A & B look identical but I do not see it at all!

Stats:
Ashlyn - 10 lbs 1 oz (25-50%)
Height - 21.5 inches (10-25%)
Head - 37.4 cm (10-25%)

Braden - 10 lbs 2.5 oz (25%)
Height - 21.75 inches (10-25%)
Head - 38 cm (10-25%)

Happy Fourth of July!

For the Fourth this year, our friends Alicia & Greg had everyone over. We can see a fireworks display from their backyard. Peyton had fun playing with her friends, Evan, Leah, Drew and Blake. I just realized she was surrounded by twins! Thankfully we had a lot of volunteer baby holders so I could also sit outside for a while with everyone. Of course, I still didn't have any free hands to take pictures there, but I did get some at home of my "first Fourth babies". Next year, Ashlyn and Braden might be running around with the rest of the kids!
Here's a pic I stole from our friends Drew and Blake with Peyton...

Potty Milestone

P has been doing much better lately on the potty, although mainly at school. She does like to go at home right before bedtime for us and she has been preferring sitting on the toilet vs the potty chair..maybe it's the Dora seat. After months she still had only been going #1 and then runs in the corner to do #2 in her diaper. Well, we picked her up from school today to find that she did go #2 on the potty for the first time! Who knew that one day we would get so excited about such a thing? Dare I dream that one day we might be going from 500+ diapers a month to 400ish? Ha ha.
